ARLIS/NA & VRA Career Mentoring Program - Organizer: Sarah Carter, Verman Kimbrough Memorial Library, Ringling College of Art and Design Presenters: Rebecca Moss, College of Liberal Arts, University of Minnesota; Sarah Sherman, Getty Research Institute; Rachel Resnik, Massachusetts College of Art and Design Limit: 30 participants; MCAD Classroom 440 - Participation in this four-hour workshop is the first activity in the year-long Career Mentoring program. Each participant will be paired with another member of VRA or ARLIS/NA. Space is limited, and acceptance to this program is determined in advance (please see application form). About:
This workshop is designed to prepare participants to successfully participate in the mentoring program. It includes a DVD presentation led by Margaret Law, expert speaker at the 2005 ARLIS/NA Mentoring Program workshop. The lecture discusses characteristics of mentors, mentees, and mentoring relationships; communication methods; and benefits and pitfalls of mentoring. The workshop facilitators will lead group discussion, role-playing, and breakout sessions.
